Your bridal bouquet is the most important flower of your big day.  It plays a significant part of your wedding.  When you’re choosing your bouquet, there are several things to consider such as:
  • What flowers to include?
  • What colors will complement my scheme?
  • How big should it be? or What shape goes better with my dress?
Creative Expressions would like to share three tips for choosing your bridal bouquet.

Tip #1
Choose your dress before your bouquet. Why?
The bouquet must accent your gown. As a rule of thumb, the fancier your dress, the simpler your bouquet should be – and vice/versa.  In other words, if your dress is elegant but plain, your bouquet should be elaborate and grand. On the other hand, if your dress is elaborate and grand, the bouquet should be simple, yet elegant.

Tip #2
Consider your height when choosing the shape and size of your bouquet. Why?
For shorter brides, there are certain bouquet styles to consider. It is recommended for a shorter bride to use a small hand-tied, posy or even presentation style bouquet.  These styles will not allow the bouquet to appear heavy or to obscure the bride’s gown.  On the other hand, a taller bride should consider long stem hand-tied, presentation or even a more traditional cascading bouquet. A good rule of thumb to remember is, your bouquet should be smaller than your waist. Your bouquet should be used accentuate your gown.
However, the traditional cascading bouquet is great for brides that chooses to wear long trains or veils. For shorter brides, this style can be customized to suit your height.

Tip #3
Personalize your bouquet
The bridal bouquet is a very personal wedding ensemble.  It should reflect the brides style and personality.  The bride should work very closely with their florist to decide on flower types and colors.  If the bride has a family heirloom, it can be incorporated into the bouquet in a unique way such as, in the arrangement or on the handle. Just remember to allow your bouquet to reflect your style and personality.

The bridal bouquet is an essential part of the wedding ensemble.  Choosing the perfect bouquet take time, so don’t rush the creation of your bouquet.   Just be sure to work closely with your florist to help achieve the perfect bouquet that will reflect you!
